Our Story

Carol King and Paula Buttel are Illinois Artisans and best friends who combined their creative talents and created Design Studio in 1983. The artistic energy that is result of their design collaboration is reflected in their unique style and passion for detail.

We are artists, dreamers, designers and collectors.

Our Studio is where the magic happens and it’s a fun place to be creative and pursue our passion, which is designing original seasonal decorative accessories. Our inspiration comes from a love of textiles, ribbons, trims, textures, colors, and collecting.
